  • Pin It Weekly #346 spring-inspired quilts from followers

Edit: Here’s a work-around because after a week without internet (well, almost anyway) now WordPress has decided to make me struggle with every little detail. First I couldn’t write a post. Fixed that. Then I couldn’t save a post. Fixed that. Now I can’t publish the post. Can’t seem to fix that. I’ve gone around in circles, chasing my tail, getting no where. Apparently there’s a broken link. Or not enough memory. Or a plugin is faulty. I’ve tried fixing all of those. Multiple times. Multiple ways. With multiple discouragement. Perhaps tomorrow. For now I’ve (maybe) outsmarted the system by adding an edit to this last post. We’ll see. Good night.

Happy Spring! We are getting gorgeous weather here in Louisiana. The pollen count is through the roof, but pollen is a necessary part of nature. Richard left a patch of clover to encourage the bees, and a few butterflies are flitting around. Even the hummers are coming home. It’s definitely spring! Meet Marianne Reeves and take a look at these spring quilts and tops.

Valerie Burt has a few spring quilts, also.

And Mary Lou Curry has these interesting quilts.

Not actually a quilt or a top, yet, but these Dresdens have me thinking of flowers, soo…

Do you have a favorite? Do they all make you think of spring, even if you live in where’s it’s autumn? In case you missed last week’s PIW, here’s the link. Thanks for visiting!

  • Pin It Weekly #341 Welcome New Followers

Hello! Welcome to another Pin It Weekly! While last week’s PIW was about my most recent pins, it’s time to welcome new followers. Here’s a board idea I haven’t seen before: dollhouses! Susanne Brobak‘s board, “dukkehuse” has well over 500 pins.

Sandra Wood has a couple of boards on quilting. Here are a few pins from one:

Jacqueline Giambalvo is a new Pinterest user, but she has some interesting crochet ideas. Just look at the edges of these blankets!

And finally, an unabashed pitch for my novel, This World So Fierce. You can buy it right here on my website, and I’ll get a signed copy out to you in no time. $14 covers both the cost of the book and the shipping. As always, thank you for visiting Pin It Weekly!

  • “Pin It Weekly #340 : Latest pins for inspiration

I’ve been pinning a bit lately. In the course of a recent Pinterest episode, I found these adorable little bags that I think the girls would love. The are in my “basket bags buckets” board.

And of course, I’ve been pinning inspirational ideas for the boro jacket (more about that here). It’s coming along quite nicely, so I’ve already started looking at closures. This link is to the “boro kimono indigo flax hemp denim. I think I’ll go with a few large buttons. They really seem to draw me in. But since I’m six weeks away, I could still change my mind. Am I right?

I’ve also been looking at how people layer their fabrics, adding more and more pieces on top of the original. I haven’t been doing much of that, but my Pinterest board inspired me to add a couple of circles. The jacket is beginning to take on a life of it’s own, which it’s supposed to do. Right?

Thanks for coming by. I hope to see you next week for PIW #341.

  • Pin It Weekly #339 : new followers always welcome

It’s time to meet a few new followers. Our last PIW was in December, after all. Oh wow! First up is Jacqueline Giambalvo‘s “Sewing” board. This board has mostly quilts, but there are some other sewing-related items.

Now say hello to Marilyn Wilkinson. If you are on Keto, you should just scroll right on by, because this board will tempt you, maybe too much. I’m not sure which bread looks the most yummy, but I’d sure like to taste them all and get back to you. 🙂

And finally, say hi to Briony Blake. She is really into yoga. Check out the pins from one of her yoga boards. This first pin is just too fun. If you want to remember the names of each pose, it will certainly help in the way of mnemonics.

Have a great week, everyone. I’ll see you again for Pin It Weekly or you can visit my Pinterest boards here.

  • Pin It Weekly #338

I started a new board! Titled “slow stitching handwork needlework” this one is all about embroidery and beautiful stitches. Now, don’t get the idea that I’m going to be stitching anything so intricate. Nor will this passing fancy last very long, but while there’s a hint of interest, I have to jump on the pinning because once it’s over. The fancy really is over. Regardless, I thought I’d share a few of my favorites with you.

    Satin stitches and French knots
    I love the colors!
    Red and white ornaments, anyone?
    One feather, a dozen stitches!
There are stitches and seed beads in this paisley design.

  • Pin It Weekly #336

I’m just going to pretend that there was never a break from Fleur de Lis Quilts’ Pin It Weekly. Though I honestly haven’t been able to jump onto Pinterest as I normally would, I must admit to stealing a bit of time in the parent pick-up line and occasionally when I can’t sleep. Most recently I’ve been pinning to a new section in my “mixed media” board. I’ve had a little fun drawing and coloring using pages from old books. So the drawings in “flower sketches” are mostly to help me remember what flowers look like. Yes, I know. I like faster inspiration than my brain can provide.

Can you see how just looking at these sketches and drawings could inspire a person? Sometimes, while Richard is watching a movie I’m not particularly interested in, I pick up my color pencils and just have fun. Most I’ve made into cards for my sisters, but a few I’ve glued onto cardstock to make bookmarks for the kids. If you have ideas of how I might use a few more, I’d appreciate your input. They tend to pile up if all I do is draw and color.
