Here in Louisiana, we are sweating or chilled or wet or happy. It depends on the day, or maybe the time of day, or perhaps what the wind is blowing in. We just never know what we’ll wake up to or how the climate might change during the course of the day. So, we deal with it. It’s not so bad, after all. It’s Louisiana, our beautiful Southern state.
While other parts of the country are still dealing with snow and ice, we’re well past that. I’ll have roses in bloom by Easter. Yesterday I pulled pots of lovely houseplants out of the greenhouse. I lost three, but they were too close to the window or the heater. Plants don’t like either.
My flowering quince is having a heyday. A full month now, actually, and it bloomed in the fall. This is one plant I’d recommend to anyone who likes flowers.
Adam has baby goats everywhere. The grandchildren love playing with them. Ryder discovered that holding on to them is not easy. They squirm and wiggle, so holding them means holding tightly while they bleat for momma to come rescue them. Check out this one’s tongue during a particularly desperate squeal. Make that a scream. Not that Ryder seemed fazed by the crying!
I don’t remember the name of this vine. It just appeared in one of the azaleas a few years ago. My personal plant guru told me it’s special, so it gets it’s time to shine. Of course, the azalea is not very happy. I’ll soon have to choose which one to keep because it is choking the azalea. Maybe my plant sister will have a suggestion to remedy the situation and save both plants.
Richard has been napping on the patio bed swing after we pray the rosary. The rosary is soothing if prayed correctly–with intention and without rushing. It’s easy to get so caught up with the need to hurry life along, but prayer should not be hurried. I imagine God would prefer fewer intentional prayers than many thoughtless ones. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes my prayer life is less than I want it to be, but praying with Richard always grounds me. So, praying the rosary is especially helpful. This, despite my ADD tendencies.
