So I made a crazy mistake. I prepared everything I needed for the next house block for the Cotton Quilter’s Guild’s Block of the Month challenge. All was going well, and I really thought I’d have a sample in time for Monday’s meeting. Well, I pulled it off. However, it’s not much of a sample since firstly, it’s the wrong size, and secondly, I’ve made several changes.
I unwittingly added to the house. The right side is supposed to be sky and grass. Still, I like this house. Let’s say there’s a sewing room on the right side. 🙂
This is what I had on Friday evening. It looks pretty good and I didn’t even realize that I had a problem, except that it’s definitely the wrong size. At this point, I think removing the tree and the bottom grass will bring it close to 12.5 inches. That’s the plan anyway.
Notice the skinny windows on each side of the door and the roof eaves? Those are now different.
I’ll figure it out before Monday. What won’t happen is my making another block following the new pattern. I simply do not have enough time.
This is the new, simplified block. The first one had too many pieces. Of course, I removed the tree and its 13 pieces. I also removed some of the walls between the windows, which I enlarged. The roof eaves are also smaller so that only the roof sticks out beyond the house. We’ve used this part of the pattern before, so it should be easier. Here are a couple of detail photos of my oops block.
I hope you begin June with peaceful piecing. I am going to Orlando with the Bunkie Betas for National Convention. My plan is to pack a few supplies to make a cute little bag
