Sunday Quilt Inspiration: Dream Big Quilt Panels

I realize that the Dream Big panels have lost some of their popularity, but I still think they are wonderful. I love the possiblilities that they present. And especially love to look at them for quilting ideas. That’s what I’m thinking of tonight as I get ready to (finally!) quilt my Sugaridoo quilt. More on that later, though. Let’s take a look at some of the fabulous quilting inspired by the Dream Big panels.

All of these pins are on my “heart, quilts” board under the Dream Big panels category. Here’s the thing about looking at ideas: I won’t know what I want to do until I turn the longarm machine on. So I look at ideas, find a few I like and try to break down the movements in my head. Then I’ll practice: first on paper, then on a white board, then moving the machine without making stitches. My muscle memory is fickle, so I always warm up with a few practice runs. (Probably has something to do with not using the muscles!) At some point, I’ll actually turn the machine on and begin making stitches. Many of which will come right back out! Mr. Ripper is my hero.
