What do you do with your favorite pair of jeans when it’s time to take them out of commission? Insterestingly, those jeans can come in any manner of clothing, including shoes, jackets, and bags. Also interesting, you can deconstruct many of these other items and use the fabric in quilts and other projects.
Quilts in denim . . .
Which is your favorite? How likely are you to make a quilt using upcycled denim?
Love these! I guess it’s time to start collecting old jeans.
I like that you show the different ways that denim is used. I think my hubby has an old shirt that I can recycle.
That’s a good place to start. Ask family and friends to help, too. May as well salvage as much as you can. I’ve read about a couple of quilters who use only recycled denim. That’s commitment!
It doesn’t take long to collect enough fabrics. You can also ask friends to give you their old jeans. Keep in mind that it becomes a heavy quilt if you use just thick denim. You might want to mix it up.
