Circle to Circle in Serendipity

I did not realize how long it’s been since my last post. You know how it works: I’d try to get a post a week in, but unforeseen circumstances got in the way. Again. And again. How that happened after is a complete mystery. But I did the math: it’s been a long time. Six weeks if you’re a mathy. And if you are mathy, you can do the numbers for the days and post that info in the comments.

Then Kaja of Slow Slowly and AHIQ sent me an email. Just to check on me. Sweet friend. It is not her first time doing that.

So what in world has been going on that six weeks could pass by without me? Honestly, I think someone put me in a coma. There hasn’t been much, lifewise or quilting-wise. I teach. Go home. Sit in my chair. Comatose. Sometimes I work on these circles. Wait, I did go to a Cotton Quilters’ meeting where one of my friends was making these. I sewed one circle for her and when I got home, zombified, I started making some of my own.

It was going to be simple: make circles until I got tired, then sew them together. No stress or thinking. But you know, things change. They went up on the design wall right away–I didn’t like looking at the flat, gray wall.

Did you know I like shortcuts? I sorta do. Okay, I do. My shortcut for these blocks became cutting lots of blocks and circles. I had to use the Kaffe Fasset fat-quarters for the circles. I had bought two bundles, so I had not picked them out. If I had, I’d have chosen all flowers. Anyway, for some reason, I also cut these blue circles (third from center).

Since I was working in sets, I had three or four of the same background colors any time I put some up. One day I saw a trip around-the-world pattern was forming. Just happening. Serendipity. A great name for the quilt. And here we are.

  1. 42 days. But I just went three months, so you’re not the worst blogger of the year! Sometimes it’s all we can do to cover the basics, isn’t it? Nice, though, to see that you are managing a wee bit of sewing and Serendipity is a lovely way for it to come about.

    1. I’m sure there are other bloggers who have managed to outdo us. Just think of the many who just gave up altogether! Instagram stole many bloggers and may have gotten me. The problem is that you can’t write a post, and I need more than just a few words!
I think I caught up with your blog, but there are quite a few left to read. I think I’ll just try to enjoy them when I can. Thanks for visiting, Kaja. It’s always nice to hear from you!
