The End. But I Have Photos!

The Contemporary Fiber Arts of Louisiana, my fiber arts group, has an annual small quilt display at the Baton Rouge Main Library. Encouraged to find other venues, I called the Avoyelles Parish Library in Marksville and asked the director, Theresa, whether they would be interested in the display. They were thrilled. I was thrilled.

I made plans with the CFAL coordinator, Jessica, and we decided that the month of August would be a good time for the exhibit to come to Avoyelles. Jessica and Theresa were so very easy to work with. Considering the logistics of getting the pieces from Baton Rouge, set up, removed and returned, there were a few moving parts.

I’ve heard from several people that they enjoyed the show and hope that we do this again. The library requested a few more days, so they were happy. Now it’s just to hear back from the CFAL group, but I’m not worried. A few other people have tried to get the exhibit into other spaces, so this is something we’re actively working toward.

I decided to set up the show–at the time the library was down one employee due to covid quarantines. It wasn’t difficult at all, though I seemed to need a few minutes to determine just what I wanted to do and could manage.

In the end, I like the set up. It’s not fancy, but we live life relatively simply here in Avoyelles Parish. And it was a great first start. Despite covid. Despite a hurricane. Despite 100+ temps. Despite a few other obstacles. Like we tend to do here, we survived.
