Actually, life has been quite busy. I have two bits of great news but can share only one at this time. The other has to wait until Thursday. What’s the big news?
I’ll be teaching a class at International Quilt Festival Houston!

Yes! That’s right. Only one, but one is a start. It’s on the Tuesday of Festival Week. I didn’t even know there are classes earlier than the days of the festival. This year the quilt fest is November 12-15, 2026. I’ll be teaching on the tenth from 2:00 – 4:00. My class is called Exquisite Improv Curves. It’s based on the class I teach called Crazy Curves! Workshop. This class is only three hours long, but I’ve found that amount of time long enough if participants are willing to work.
What’s the difference between the classes? Participants will get a workbook that explains the steps for each type of curve, so you can take it home to study. Plus, this workbook also provides some ideas for future curve blocks. And, it provides ideas for using the blocks in a quilt.

I’ve worked hard to put this together. But it’s probably the best work I’ve done since I started teaching quilting. I really like the pacing and set up. At 18 pages, it’s also the longest “how-to” I’ve written. Still, I enjoyed writing it. It’s also a good way to review my steps and procedures. I like the order in which I teach but found a few places in which I can give tips that I normally don’t have time for.
Also in the news is that I have enough time to add a quilt or two to my examples, so I’ve already begun one. It’s this blue one above. The yellow curves have been frustrating and fun, but I’m sticking with it. If I could just finish all the little projects for other people. I’ve checked almost all of the items off the list. More on that later.
If you haven’t signed up for my newsletter, now is a great time to do so. You’ll get a copy of ” 5 Improv Decisions That Change Everything” which I wrote a few weeks ago. Yes, I’ve been doing lots of writing lately, in addition to creating these little bags for the granddaughters.
Enough of my week. The most important thing is that I’ve been hired to teach in Houston. What do you think of that?
